Harry Kane has said that England wanted to "make a show" of their 1000th game when they beat Montenegro 7-0 to end the Wembley-style Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The Three Lions needed only a point to secure their place in next year's tournament, but the victory was made well before halftime and Captain Kane scored a hat trick in the 37th minute.
Kane's third was fifth in the first half for England, and Tammy Abraham's own goal and first goal for the national team shaped the result after the break.
The Tottenham striker acknowledged that his team was keen to mark the momentous event.
"It's really good. There was only one slip in the whole group in the last camp, but we responded very well," he told ITV Sport. "We did our job well here today."

"We wanted to do a show like this was England's 1000th game - 5-0 at halftime definitely showed our desire."

Kane's hat trick placed him in sixth place in the England goals list with 31 - just ahead of Alan Shearer.
"We all know how impressive Shearer was in scoring, so it's a nice achievement. But let's hope at least a few more are coming," he added.
Preparations for the memorable match were overshadowed by Rahim Sterling's confrontation with teammate Joe Gomez, which left Manchester City striker out of the match.
But Kane is confident Sterling will be able to return against Kosovo on Sunday.
"He was good at the camp, he did really well," Kane said. "He will be disappointed that he did not play today, but I am sure he will be ready to try to take the field on Sunday."
