FIBA representatives honored native basketball

At a formal ceremony in Sofia earlier this week, senior FIBA ​​officials honored basketball in Bulgaria. The event took place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of organized basketball in our country. A number of prominent names, including Georgi Glushkov, Atanas Tonev, Ermila Popova, Valentin Lazarov, Alexander Bozhkov, Ivan Evstatiev were congratulated for their contributions and achievements.

Special admirations were sent by FIBA ​​Europe President Turgai Demiral on the achievements of national headgear in the period 1950-1980. This is undoubtedly the most successful period for our basketball players. They won a number of medals and the women's national team won the Eurobasket in 1958.

Among the topics discussed was the host of Sofia at the World Cup under 17 in the period 4-12 June 2020.
