The Miami HEAT announced today that Dion Waiters has been suspended without pay for his failure to adhere to team policies, violation of team rules and continued insubordination.
His suspension will begin immediately, and he will be eligible to return following the conclusion of the game against the Utah Jazz on December 23.
Waiters’ latest suspension is for continued insubordination and violating team rules and policies.
Waiters has struggled mightily this season, initially failing to meet the team’s agreed upon conditioning requirements and eventually causing additional drama after consuming marijuaha-infused edibles on a team plane last month.
Waiters, who hasn’t actually played in 2019-20, is owed $12 million this season and an additional $12.6 million next year.
